Is an Electric car right for me?

Should I buy an electric car?

The million dollar question for many in 2021 is "Should I buy an Electric car?"

Practicality

Most EV's today have a range of around 250-350 miles which is more than enough for most people. On average the commute in the U.S. today is around 35 miles round trip which allows plenty of range for any extra activities like running errands or even picking up the kids from soccer practice in your Model X.

Road Trips

Road trips in electric cars are now possible thanks to efficiency improvements in battery technology as well as a plethora of charging stations strategically located in the US. Right now, there are more than 25,000 stations and growing everyday that you have access to as an electric car owner. Granted, some chargers are quicker than others, but they all get the job done in a reasonable amount of time.

For example, in 2021 you can get an 180 mile charge in just 15 minutes. That means a full charge on most models in less than 30 minutes. Going to the supercharger can also be a fun event as Tesla owners often converse at the stations while charging. Or if you're an introvert like me, you can recline the seat and watch Netflix or Youtube!

Conclusion

With the technology and infrastructure supporting electric cars improving seemingly every day, the electric car may just be the new normal. In fact, California is banning the sale of "ICE" or internal combustion engines cars by the year 2035.
